At our Research Institution, we use Quickbooks and Microsoft Excel for grants management. However, we still have a lot of paper work that is not captured by this system. The biggest challenge we face is that requisitions take long and some project staff payments are delayed. Requisitions are prepared, approved by the finance officer, then the finance manager and later to the Project heads. By the time the whole approval process is done, a lot of time has passed by and this causes delays in the program implementation. 

Procurement is the next challenge that we have. Procurement processes are very manual. From advertising to evaluating different proposals, the process can take several weeks and months. We have a lot of manual work in the procurement process.

This has improved the turn around time for requisitions. Procurement processes have also been streamlined and all information about procurement can be found in one place which makes audit of procurements easier than before.
